Thinking About It

Two more snow days here. We will be going to school in August at this rate.  I had some disturbing news at work which I have always enjoyed. Seems my supervisor who was overwhelmed before she retired blamed all her own shortcomings on me. What is it that they say? The shit flows down hill.

Soooo, this has caused unjust damage to my reputation and probably contributed to me getting passed over for promotion when she left. Sigh....... I didn't even know it. She smiled in my face, kissed my cheek, encouraged me to confide in her and stabbed me in the back!

Incidently, I told her about Beth. She said, what a trajedy, made her own intimations about her own mentally ill family member and then proceeded to trash me. I always did my work in spite of Beth's problems. It was a refuge and a comfort to me to work hard on other things.

Oh well....... shit happens. Even at work.

  1. Wow, what a weak immature nasty person! How dare she! Anna, I have a hunch that people who know her and know you are able to separate the truth from the lies. I sure hope so. The possible damage to your reputation is very upsetting. I'm sorry you had to experience this. Some people are just so NOT NICE.

  2. That is upsetting. I've worked with people like that over the years and I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND THEM.
At least I know today, that God has His plan for you and that supervisor can't derail what God has set.
At least she is gone now... that's the good news!

  3. That sounds like a lot of shit to happen! Good for you for taking it philosophically. Though really, what else can we do? (())

  4. I have experienced that if I mention my daughter's problem to people, more often than not they don't want to hear about it. I think it scares them. This does not excuse what this person has done to you. She is gone now and you may be able to get this promotion after all with a new supervisor. Unfortunately there are so many ignorant people out there.

  5. It may have had nothing to do with the fact that you confided in her about Beth. She may simply have seen you as a threat to her place at work. Her problem, not yours. Still, it hurts when we learn that people are dishonest with us as it relates to how they perceive us, treat us and work with us. Your philosophical approach to this shows how strong you really are. Hang in there and the promotions will come when it is the time in your life to truly handle the additional responsibility. God continues to watch out for you in this arena as well.

  6. I learned a while ago not to confide in people at work about my personal life. I had a sponsee who did that recently and got fired because of she was told that she wasn't putting full attention to her job and should leave her personal problems at home. It is best to not cross that line I think. I'm sorry that this person was deceitful and not trustworthy.

  7. You are soooo right Syd. I think it is a bit harder for a woman working for a woman. We are considered very cold if we do not share personal information. Men are not judged that way at all. None the less I sure should have kept my mouth shut with this.

I will be more careful in the future.
