Welcome

Welcome to my blog. I hope we can help each other endure the pain of the addiction of a daughter or son.

6 fractured vertabrae

Beth was in a bad accident. Only she was hurt. She split a pole in half and rolled the car. She is in a lot of pain in spite of all the drugs the hospital is giving her. She kept thanking us for coming to the hospital.
I cried and threw up when I saw her. I was actually grateful for her pain. It meant that she was not paralyzed. I got a phone call from a fireman this morning that she was helicoptered to the trauma unit. He did not know her status and had the wrong hospital. Fractures are from L6 to L12. I am so glad that she lived through this and did not kill anyone else.

  1. This is just terrible. I'm sure you are very upset and did not understand correctly, because the lumbar vertebrae are L1 thru L6, the very lower part of the back that connect to the pelvis. Possibly it is the thoracic spine (from neck to lumbar), still a very traumatic injury. Possible surgery depending on the fractures.

I wish we could comfort you in a tangible way.

  2. Are you ok? I know i always look fine on the outside but on the inside I am falling to pieces. I am glad nobody else got hurt but I am very sorry to hear about Beth. You are all in my prayers. You deserve a break. So God if you are listening, her basket is full!

  3. wow...just awful...I'm so sorry. I'm SO glad that she isn't paralyzed too. This is the 2nd blog I've read today that I've written this comment on. I'm so sorry you're (and she's !) going through this. She's obviously lucky to be alive ...and as you said, so wonderful that she didn't harm anyone else. I agree with Madyson...your plate has been so full,...and for so long. God bless you. Please let us know how she's (and you're) doing as you go forward. As a teacher, I'm SO glad for you that you don't have upcoming school to deal with too,....hang in there. You are very strong.

  5. Oh Love, I am so sorry. I wish there was something *real* I could do for you other than typing this message. Know that you will be in my prayers through out the days. God is in control even when it doesn't feel like it or look like it. (((((ANNA)))))

  6. I'm praying, and so is my dad and his prayer group. For peace and reassurance for you, and for dramatic healing for Beth and wisdom for the doctors. Blessings to you Anna. I too wish that I was close enough to really help. Please keep us posted - I am so grateful she is alive and not paralyzed.
