Welcome

Welcome to my blog. I hope we can help each other endure the pain of the addiction of a daughter or son.

Update

We are all doing a little better today. Beth has been pepping up from time to time. She rallies when her friends come around. So far, they seem to be kids who are struggling but clean.

We made an add for her on Craig's list for pet sitting. She made a list of services and prices. I found a cute picture of a cartoon character that looks a lot like her walking a group of dogs in high heels and a big flared skirt just like Beth wears. The character looked a lot like her.

This is something she can do from home in our finished basement. She can say yes or no to one job at a time and if worse comes to worse we can help her get by for a few days as long as she keeps it down to one pet family at a time.

She loves animals and they love her back so it could work. She will watch them overnight or during the day. She will also bathe them or cut their nails while they are here.

Does anyone have any good names for the business?

  1. I am so glad, that she is doing better. To have something to do in your life that you love makes all the difference. The only name that came to mind in a flash was "Pets-R-Me"!
    Have a great Sunday.

  2. How about something like Creature Comforts? I am glad to hear Beth is looking towards getting off the couch. I am sure that that is a relief for you and the rest of the family.

  3. I like the name Kristin picked! I would be drawn to that if I was looking for a pet sitter.

I think friends do help, Keven always perks up when friends are around too. I hope this business takes off for Beth, it sounds like a good way to make some money and I think it would be very therapeutic for her to give dogs some love and reassurance while their owners are away.

  4. The Pet Sitter
    Care 4 Companions
    Pampered Pet Care
A good pet sitter is hard to find - that sounds like an awesome job for her :) AND, while she's giving to the pets, they will hopefully be a comfort to her too.
    God bless.

  5. Use a name that starts with an "A" and relates to your area like "Advantage Pet Care of Maple Grove" or "A+ Maple Grove Pet Sitting" or "Affordable Pet Care Services of Maple Grove" It will be first on any directory or listing you use and most people will call and use local services first making your listing the 1st one they will call in "Maple Grove/your town". I just found your blog but will be following and adding you all to my prayers. I hope this works out for Beth. I am thinking maybe that is something my son could do this summer too.

  6. I am glad that she has perked up a little. I think that a lot of people with mental illnesses are very drawn to animals because they accept you for who you are. I often picture Caroline working with animals for a career someday. How about "Pet Pals Sitting" or something like that?

  7. How about, "Walking the Talk". I'm referring, of course, to Beth's recovery journey. Or, "Paws for Serenity". OK - maybe I'm taking this too far. I guess I like referring to the recovery process in some way. After all, this potential job is a serious contribution to Beth's sobriety and efforts at recovery. Just my thoughts. Peggy
