Does anyone know of a long term therapeutic community or rehab that lasts for about a year?
I pretty much know the ones that charge 20000 up front and you loose it all no refund if the addict walks away. I am looking for something more affordable.
From what I see some of you write it seems there might be more programs in California.
I am familiar with and like the idea of Phoenix House. Lasts for a year. They work there and are constantly under supervision. Cost for non-residents 3 to 5 thousand per month. Cost for residents or court referred 0.
What can you recommend from your experience? I know that my daughter will probably never go to one of these but I would still like to know. Seems I meet a lot of parents looking for a program beyond the 30 day and your cured rehabs we have all come to know and love.

30 days seem way too short of a length. I don't any places.. but sending you hugs.
ReplyDeleteMy son is at Phoenix House and I personally think its wonderful and would recommend it to anyone. He's there for 90 days and I saw a change in him during the first few weeks. I wish he was staying longer (he was court ordered). I like the fact that its a therapeutic community - the residents "run the house" by each having certain jobs to perform (cleaning, cooking, etc. etc.) They have group meetings, individual therapy, close medical supervision (if the resident takes meds the nurse doles them out, she's there every day). They do eventually get more freedom as they prepare to leave the program. Keven's favorite group is the dual diagnosis group because he found other people there that could relate to what he's going through.

ReplyDeleteWhy are YOU trying to find it? It's not YOU that needs it.
ReplyDeleteIf you find it for your child, they will not benefit from it anyway, at least that is what the statistics show.
let the child find it for themselves. they know how. trust me.
If you are ASKED by the child to find one, or help find one, then pull out the phone book and start with your local County Mental Health They can direct you to many different options.
